Peace. Over the weekend I caught a piece on the History Channel about gangs in prisons.The show was explaining how people use their tattoos to communicate
their affiliations and sentiments. They talked about La Eme-the Mexican Mafia, Bloods, Crips, etc. The one group that piqued my interest the most though was the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas or
Peckerwoods. From what I learned "Peckerwood" was a derogatory term coined by original people when referencing colored men. Growing up, I was informed that the term was regarding a lack of size of the
reproductive member; However, on this program the colored prison guards and Aryan Brotherhood members state that it is based upon the woodpecker bird having red hair and how a colored man with
red hair usually shows a close to "pure" bloodline. So, as they say- the original inmates would call a colored inmate a "Peckerwood" because of their reddish hair and the colored inmates adopted the name
as their own to represent the "purity of the Aryan race". Me and the Queen were in stitches as to how stupid this sh*t was. To top it all off, it shows even how MORE stupid the idea of original people calling
themselves "nigga" is. It's wild how I had to see the same backward logic(?) being used by the colored man in order to cee just how it applies to self.
Like here's the run down--
Black man in white america is a minority and treated as a third rate citizen or less.
White man labels black man "nigger".
Black man over time remixes "nigger" to become "nigga" and adopts it as an exclusive term of endearment.
Same black man gets incarcerated in prison where black people are a great portion of the population.
In prison white man is the minority.
Black inmate coins term "peckerwood" to degrade white inmate.
White man over time adopts "peckerwood" as his own term of endearment.
White inmates makes other white inamtes prove themselves (assaluts, murders, etc) in order to be accepted as "peckerwoods"
Now, am I gonna stop using the word "nigga"? Probably not.
I don't really use it now; however I will make sure it applies completely and totally whenever I do choose to sling it. I can't get all "NAACP" on y'all-as words are just that and there is a time and correct place for
EVERY word-regardless to whom it may offend. Peace.

Check out this youtube clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsFCSvqsqFA My understanding on the word nigger or nigga is that it was derived from this word.This is what they thought or what we were actually called.It became derogatory because it was used derogatory but it didn't actually mean something negative.Say if we were called god or black or nubian back then and they used it in a derogatory fashion,today we would have a problem with those words.That would be letting them control the frequency of our thought.Peace

Peace Allah.By your rational we also shouldn't use the word black either.The definition in Oxford's dictionary defines black among other things as wicked; sinister; deadly.If we go by the frequency of what they termed black to be (death),as in the black plague or the black sea, then we shouldn't call ourselves black.But we know why they defined black as death.As possibly with negro or as you say necro as well.If we go by other's frequency then I guess we shouldn't use the name Allah either.They don't see Allah as the original man.I didnt pull a rabbit out of a hat.There is good evidence that nigger/nigga can be derived from negus.You also see the root n/g in nagas which are the serpent kings which symbolized wisdom.And if you go to the medu netcher,netcher or neter meant divine and the 'ch' was interchangable with g. You make an interesting point B.U.T. no Lord, that's NOT my rational, here's what I'm sayin' God...I doubt, very seriously, that the slave-master called us 'nigga' and meant 'King', that is counter-productive and would have defeated his purpose(Master the Original Man)...I doubt if the youth use it in that context...the 4* in the 1-36 says, 'my uncle cannot talk his own language,' the slave-master stripped us of that so, it's more than likely that it dates back to slavery. Now, let's say, for the sake of argument that 'negus' does mean 'a king' ,right? and if and when YOU say it-you use it in that context B.U.T. I'mma tell you somethin' Lord, IF, for 400+ yrs. we have been hearing 'nigga this' and 'nigga that' from those we heard it from i.e. the slave-master and the slaves who used it 'cause they don't know no better', what do you think registers(resonates) in their 3rd?
